New Engine - Patch Notes - August 20, 2026

Greetings Adventurers,

Here are the latest update details for 4Classic 4Story for August 20, 2026 (Thu).

A New Era for 4Classic — The New Engine Has Arrived!

After a long period of development, testing, optimization, and countless hours of work behind the scenes, we are incredibly excited to finally release one of the biggest technical updates in 4Classic's history: our new engine is here!

This has been a major undertaking for our team. Our goal was not simply to change how 4Classic looks, but to modernize the technology behind the game while preserving the classic experience that defines 4Story.

With the new engine, 4Classic can take better advantage of modern hardware while introducing improved lighting, dynamic shadows, updated terrain rendering, and other graphical improvements. At the same time, we know that many players love the original look and feel of the game—which is why the classic visual experience isn't going anywhere.

  • The new engine provides improved performance on newer hardware. If you experience reduced performance on older hardware after the update, please contact us so we can investigate.
  • Added a new Shadow Quality setting:
    • Off/Low: Uses the classic baked shadows and original lighting.
    • Medium/High: Enables new dynamic shadows and improved, more realistic lighting.
  • Added a new Classic Terrain setting:
    • Switch between the newly updated, more realistic and open terrain and the classic terrain appearance.
  • GTAO now offers multiple quality settings, ranging from Off to High.

This release represents an important foundation for the future of 4Classic, and we're excited to finally put it in your hands. As this is a significant technical change, we also want to hear from you. If you encounter any graphical issues, performance problems, or other unexpected behavior while using the new client, please let us know.
